About Mrs. Kaliher

I have been teaching in Sarasota County since 1988. After a year in
Kindergarten I was ‘promoted’ to the wonderful world of 1st grade and have
been here ever since! Originally from Connecticut, I earned my Bachelor’s
Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University
before relocating to Florida. I have a Master’s Degree in Exceptional
Student Education from Ave Maria University. My certifications are in Early
Childhood and Elementary Education. I am ESOL endorsed. I pride myself in
developing a classroom community rich with cooperative learning in a
structured yet flexible environment. My students feel respected which allows
them to thrive in a nurturing, loving atmosphere. Classroom expectations are
well defined which provides the opportunity for all students to maximize
their learning gains and reach their highest potential.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, David, for 35 years and we have
four amazing children; three daughters, Kaitlin (married to Kent and an Elementary Reading Coach
in Polk County), Korinne, and Keleigh, and one son, Kiernan;
ranging in age from 26 to 32. I am known as Mimi to my 2 grandchildren - Elliette, 3, and Emmett, 3 months. Our
chihuahuas, Jack and Miley, rule the house! When I have spare time, I enjoy
spending time with my family, reading, and going to the beach.
